Raul Barragan was elected Post Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S. Post 3834 on February 3, 2020 

Raul served in the California National Guard from 2001 to 2009. He served in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom as part of a Force Protection and Personal Security Detail contingent. In recognition of his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/M Device, and the NATO Medal.
